This is the homepage for the ING data archive. The catalogue contains all of the existing data from the Isaac Newton Group of telescopes on La Palma. These consist of the 4.2m William Herschel Telescope, the 2.5m Isaac Newton Telescope and the 1.0m Jacobus Kapteyn Telescope.
There are currently approximately 430,000 observations included in the catalogue. Of these approximately 75% are of astronomical sources, the rest being of calibration sources and tests (engineering). The data come from a variety of instruments on all telescopes and include direct imaging, long slit spectroscopy, echelle spectroscopy, multi-object fibre spectroscopy, multi-slit spectroscopy and Fabry-Perot spectroscopy. Although all every effort is made to load data into the archive as soon as it arrives in Cambridge, the user is not in general permitted access to information on data that is less than a year old. (As an exception an observer on a particular proposal can approach us directly if in need of another copy of data that is not yet out of the embargo period.)
If you find data useful for you all we ask is that you include the following acknowledgment in your publication:
This paper makes use of data obtained from the Isaac Newton Group Archive which is maintained as part of the CASU Astronomical Data Centre at the Institute of Astronomy, Cambridge.

Note about data format. Please note that all fits files are delivered as RICE compressed fits. Most of the software treat them in a transparent form for the user with the notable exception of IRAF. In order to transform the RICE compressed fits into uncompressed fits please use the tools at http://heasarc.nasa.gov/fitsio/fpack/
